A daughter of Boston, Joanne Suarez is an artivist and public health ethicist. Joanne brings forth over a decade of experience in community healthcare delivery and strategy across specialized public health areas: community psychiatric care, preventative services, gender-based violence, crisis operations management and reproductive health.
She has worked boots on the ground majority of her personal and professional career, serving historically marginalized communities in the Greater Boston area. Prior to going independent, Joanne served as Chief of Staff for Mayor Wu's Community Engagement Cabinet. In this capacity, she led a $5M dollar organization and creating a CityWide Strategic Plan aiming to improve quality of life for Boston residents engaging with Citywide government services.
A daughter of Dominican immigrants, Joanne is the first in her family to attend college. She is the youngest of three sisters and still resides in East Boston (Noodle Island), where her parents settled as uninvited guests. Her hobbies include reading, sailing, creative writing, and indulging in all expressive aesthetic experiences.
Joanne received a Masters of Bioethics from Harvard Medical School and a Bachelors of Counseling Psychology concentration in mental health and addictions counseling from Johnson & Wales University. Joanne is an independent Health Equity consultant of Prospera Health, LLC; a sister to Prospera Institute.
