In the face of growing racial health disparities, ethical issues in healthcare and public health are becoming more complex; communities are growing distrustful of health interventions, inequitable distribution of resources hinder wellbeing, and solutions are ineffective for those they aim to help; especially those from historically invisible racial-ethnic groups.
Prospera Institute is a non-profit organization exploring ethical and moral issues impacting the LatinX diaspora in the Commonwealth and beyond.
We envision a world of health prosperity for members of the LatinX diaspora.

Through research, education and social action, we strive to:
Community
We will share power with community stakeholders - engaging them in programs, research, conversations and social action strategies.
Beneficence
We will always hold the best interests of Latino, Black and Indigenous communities’ members while not distancing ourselves from historical patterns that have fostered health inequality.
Cultural Humility
We will approach our work with humility, understanding that our target communities are a rich resource.
Social Justice
We will intentionally reinvest into communities and emerging leaders placing community where they deserve to be - at the center of our mission.
We believe that coupling ethical inquiry with Latino health promotion can serve as cornerstones for more transparent, fairer, and healthier futures.
Join us in advancing Latinx health equity!
We are aware that centering Latino, Black and Indigenous communities in public health can perpetuate common practices that have historically fostered health and social disparities across all populations.
As members of the named communities, through our mission, vision and values, we uphold our duty to beloved community. It is our ethical responsibility to uplift their narratives and leverage a public health toolkit that centers communities, uplifts emerging leaders, and innovates solutions for social impact, bringing us closer to closing gaps in racial health equity.
Prospera strives for inclusion, welcoming all identities, appreciating diverse perspectives and respecting individual values and convictions. Our intention is to amplify marginalized issues to further a public health discourse, not dominate it.
To neighboring communities who share common values and lived experiences: we see you, we honor you, and we thank you for your contributions - you too are part of our story.
Indigenous Land Acknowledgement for Cultural Institutions
Prospera Institute, Boston, humbly acknowledges that the places where we eat, sleep, pray and work sits within the traditional, ancestral and stolen land of the Massachusetts Ponkapoag /ˈpɒŋkəpɔːɡ, tribe whose name was appropriated by this Commonwealth. We continue to survive honoring the elders through cultural practices; expressive arts ie.“areytos”/storytelling, prayer, reflection thus resisting systemic oppression and reclaiming liberation in public health and social practices.
